Music Breakdown: Snoop Dogg’s “I Wanna Go Outside”

A look at the newly released music video

Snoop Dogg has been pretty active on social media discussing how he is passing the time.

He has posted videos of what he has been listening to, such as “Let it Go” by Idina Menzel, reading 50 Cent’s book “Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter” and challenging Jay-Z to a Verzuz challenge battle.  Snoop Dogg also has been working on his music and shooting music videos.

Snoop Dogg’s music video for the song “I Wanna Go Outside” was released on May 19.

The song talks about how Snoop is tired of being stuck in his house and unable to go outside and have some fun.  In the music video, Snoop Dogg is lounging around his house and engaging in social distancing activities, such as shooting hoops outside by himself and playing Madden on Xbox.  The video also shows the activities Snoop misses, such as collaborating with other artists and coaching his youth football team.

Snoop also talks about how he wishes he could be out in the community in the post-chorus.

[Post-Chorus]

I’d rather be out there in the streets
In my hood, in the beach, feelin’ good
Reppin’ that Eastside LBC (that’s what I’m talkin’ ’bout)
Usually, I would be out there in the club
VIP, bangin’ the dub, fresh and clean
Reppin’ that Eastside LBC (that’s what I’m talkin’ ’bout)

Snoop often posts on social media about his music, the LBC (Long Beach City Crew) and the clubs he frequents.  Snoop has been able to continue working on his music, but he has not been in the clubs or hanging out with the LBC since the stay at home order began.  Everyone can sympathize with this because no one has been able to see their friends in the same way as before.

Snoop’s song speaks to anyone who is missing how life used to be before the COVID-19 pandemic affected the world.  He is able to perfectly encapsulate how life has changed. The fact that Snoop made this music video also speaks to how he has not allowed this pandemic to change his work ethic.

Snoop Dogg’s song allows people to not feel as if they are the only ones going stir crazy at home.
